Ecommerce email examples

Several onboarding emails explain what subscribers can explore next rather than leading with a discount. Gibson introduces gear guides, artist interviews, documentaries, an app and related brands, while 80,000 Hours uses an eight-part introductory series to guide readers toward career resources. Article takes a seasonal route with “The furniture you’ve always wanted” and later sends “Home tour: A space fit for fall”, which is explicitly sent on day 7 after signup.

These educational messages sit beside more commercial onboarding. Blurb introduces book formats and inspiration while its preview text advertises saving 30%, and Quince leads with a new puffer while also explaining shipping, returns and referrals. The onboarding examples therefore include both content that introduces the brand and content that pairs product discovery with an incentive or service terms.

Anthropologie sends two sale emails on the same date, using “Starts Now: Extra 20% Off Sale” and “Don’t miss an EXTRA 20% off sale!” to promote the same 20% offer with different wording. Missouri Quilt Co. also sends several distinct sale messages, from a daily deal to “⏰Clock’s Ticking!”, with product listings and different discount offers. Together, these examples show multiple ways to present a time-limited promotion: a general sale announcement, a featured deal, a deadline reminder or selected products.

The offer language often carries the subject line, while the email adds conditions and service details. Fenty Beauty combines 15% off with a qualifying order threshold and free-shipping details. Bonobos combines a discount code with free shipping, returns, product details and customer feedback. Boll & Branch adds a countdown, several bedding products and a complimentary gift for qualifying orders. These emails place offer qualifications and supporting details inside the message as well as in the promotion.

The median subject line is 35 characters, and 25% of all the emails in this collection use an emoji. Direct examples include Tarte’s “15% OFF 💜”, Free People’s “NEW 🌟 NEW 🌟 NEW” and Compex’s “Guest, meet the new Compex Ultimate ⚡”. Prashanti Sarees uses a much longer subject line to describe its Deepavali campaign and product categories.
