Ecommerce activation nudges here move from setup reminders to expiring offers, with Jackery changing its incentive across three messages. The emails use varied next steps, from account creation to a first purchase.

Jackery sends three distinct activation nudges. On day 1, “There's still time to redeem your offer” points subscribers to a limited 3% discount and portable power products. On day 4, “Last chance for your special discount” adds expiry pressure and uses a discount code with a single CTA. On day 6, “Claim Your $215 Welcome Gift – Join Free Today!” shifts the action from shopping to joining a free program.
That progression gives you three useful models for a signup journey: remind people that an offer remains available, make the deadline explicit, then introduce a different reason to join. The three messages use different subject lines and content, moving from a discount to a welcome gift and free program.
Urgency appears in several subject lines. Chairish uses “Take $20 off your first order”, while Pact uses “Your 15% Off is Expiring Soon” and Bonobos uses “Your 20% Off Code Is About to Expire”. Inside the emails, Chairish limits its first-order offer to seven days, Pact tells subscribers to use the discount before it is gone, and Bonobos adds shopping prompts around its expiring code.
This pressure is not limited to discounts. Taskrabbit asks subscribers to book a task by highlighting customer reviews and included protection coverage, with “5-star service ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐” reinforcing that message. For your own nudge, choose one reason to act now, whether that is an expiring offer, included coverage or access to a member benefit, and put that reason in the subject or preview text.
Every email in this collection is an activation nudge, but activation means more than making a purchase. Swan Bitcoin asks people to finish creating an account, then explains the recurring Bitcoin buys, IRAs, custody and private services available after signup. Benefit Cosmetics asks subscribers to join its Friends with Benefit Rewards program for deals, gifts and beauty offers. Charlotte Tilbury asks people to create an account and join its loyalty club, with a free full-size lip oil after a spending threshold.
Bonobos’s first message combines a 20% discount code, free shipping and returns, style guidance and curated shopping sections, and it has a personalized design trait. Its later message adds a product grid while retaining the discount code and free shipping. By contrast, Swan Bitcoin uses a founder voice and a single CTA, while Charlotte Tilbury also uses a single CTA and red and orange colors.
“The Best Deal on the Best Bundle” leads into Liquid I.V.'s invitation to create and subscribe to a custom bundle for 30% off, while “20% Off Won’t Last Long” presents Bonobos’s 20% offer with urgency. The median subject line length is 36 characters, and 25% of the subject lines in this collection use an emoji.
Preview text provides additional details in these examples. Liquid I.V. explains the bundle action with “Create and subscribe to your own bundle for 30% off”, and Taskrabbit connects its review-led message to “Real reviews from real people, plus coverage on every task.” Keep the subject focused on one promise, then use the preview to clarify the action, terms or reassurance.
Activation nudges go to users who signed up but have not reached the key action yet. They are short, specific reminders that remove the one thing standing between the user and value.
"You have not connected your store yet" works better than a generic "come back". Be specific about what is left.
Link straight to the step, offer a template or promise it takes two minutes. Remove every click you can.
A reply-to-a-person line or a link to book a call rescues users who are stuck rather than uninterested.
