Honest take: Automizely is a shipping company's email tool
Automizely exists because AfterShip wanted to offer email marketing alongside their shipping tracking product. It is not a bad tool for basic email. But email marketing is not AfterShip's primary focus, and that shows in the feature depth, development pace, and automation capabilities.
For stores on the free plan sending occasional campaigns, Automizely works fine. But the moment you want to build sophisticated automations, segment your audience by behavior, A/B test your campaigns, or understand which emails drive revenue, you will need something built by a team that focuses on email full-time.
The affordable upgrade: Sequenzy
Sequenzy gives you AI-built email sequences and native Shopify integration for $29/month. The AI creates complete campaigns from a goal description, which is faster than building basic flows in Automizely's editor. All features on every plan with no tier gates.
The balanced upgrade: Omnisend
Omnisend is the best middle-ground option. Email, SMS, and basic popups in one platform. Pre-built e-commerce workflows. A generous free tier to test before paying. At $59/month for 6,000 contacts, you get dramatically more capability than Automizely.
The full upgrade: Klaviyo
If your store does real revenue and you want the best, Klaviyo is the standard. Expensive, but stores at scale usually find the investment worthwhile.
The pricing question
Automizely's free plan is generous for what it is (300 contacts, basic features). But once you move to paid plans:
- Automizely Essentials: $11/mo for 500 contacts
- Automizely Pro: $99/mo
- Automizely Premium: $149/mo
- Sequenzy: $29/mo for 50,000 emails, unlimited contacts
- Omnisend: Free for 250 contacts, $59/mo for 6k
- Klaviyo: Free for 250 contacts, $150+/mo at 10k
At the Pro and Premium tiers, Automizely costs as much as platforms that offer significantly more features. The free tier is appealing, but be aware of what the paid plans cost relative to dedicated email platforms.
