When should you choose Sequenzy?
1. You're Building a SaaS Product
If your business model is software subscriptions, Sequenzy integrates directly with Stripe via our native Stripe integration. You can trigger emails based on subscription status, MRR changes, failed payments, and churn signals. Flodesk is built for creators selling courses and digital products—not SaaS founders managing recurring subscriptions.
2. You Need Transactional + Marketing Emails
Sequenzy handles both transactional emails (password resets, receipts, notifications) and marketing campaigns in one platform. Flodesk is marketing-only. If you need transactional emails, you'd need a separate service like SendGrid or Postmark.
3. You Want Behavior-Based Automation
Our automations trigger based on what users do in your product—not just email engagement. Trial expiring? Usage dropping? Payment failed? These SaaS-specific triggers don't exist in Flodesk, which focuses on creator workflows like welcome sequences and launch campaigns.
4. You're a Developer
Our API is modern, well-documented, and built for developers who want to deeply integrate email into their product. Flodesk's API is functional but limited—it's designed for a non-technical audience.
When should you stick with Flodesk?
1. Beautiful Design is Everything
If you're a coach, creative, photographer, or brand where email aesthetics are critical, Flodesk is unmatched. Their templates are genuinely stunning—designer-crafted, modern, and beautiful. Sequenzy's templates are good, but design isn't our core focus.
2. You Sell Digital Products or Services
Flodesk's checkout feature lets you sell courses, ebooks, services, and subscriptions with beautiful sales pages. We don't offer digital product sales. If you're a course creator or coach, Flodesk's Everything plan handles this natively.
3. You Need Landing Pages and Forms
Flodesk includes beautiful opt-in forms and landing pages. Sequenzy doesn't have a landing page builder. If landing pages are central to your funnel, Flodesk delivers out of the box.
4. You're Non-Technical
Flodesk is designed for people who aren't developers. Everything is visual, drag-and-drop, and intuitive. Sequenzy has technical features (API, webhooks, custom events) that might feel overwhelming if you're not building software.
5. You Want Unlimited Email Sends
Flodesk doesn't limit how many emails you can send. We cap at 300k/month on the $49 plan. If you send high volumes, Flodesk's unlimited approach might be more predictable.
Honest Limitations of Sequenzy
Templates aren't as beautiful: Flodesk's designer-crafted templates are genuinely stunning. Our templates are good, but design isn't our specialty.
No digital product sales: We don't help you sell courses, ebooks, or services. That's not our focus.
No landing pages: Flodesk includes beautiful landing pages. We don't have a landing page builder.
No sales pages: Flodesk lets you create sales pages for products. We don't offer this.
Email send limits: We cap at 300k/month on the $49 plan. Flodesk is unlimited.
Less intuitive for non-technical users: Our product has more technical features that may feel complex for creators.
Honest Limitations of Flodesk
Not built for SaaS: No Stripe subscription management, MRR tracking, or churn prevention workflows.
No transactional emails: You'll need a separate service for password resets, receipts, etc.
Limited API: The API exists but is basic compared to developer-focused platforms.
No behavior-based automation: Can't trigger emails based on in-app actions—only email engagement and time-based triggers.
Pricing changed: The famous unlimited flat pricing is gone for new customers. Now it scales with subscriber count like everyone else.
Basic analytics: Analytics cover the basics but lack depth for data-driven marketers.
