12 Reteno Alternatives for Mobile App Teams

Reteno bundles push, email, in-app and messengers for subscription apps. Here is what to use instead when you need a bigger ecosystem, a different pricing unit, or email-led lifecycle flows.

TL;DR

Quick answer: For subscription apps that want email, push and in-app from RevenueCat, Superwall or Adapty events, Sequenzy (free up to 2,500 emails/mo, then $19/mo for 15k emails). For cheap per-MAU push with WhatsApp and Telegram, Pushwoosh. For a free push tier with the biggest community, OneSignal. For analytics plus engagement, CleverTap. For enterprise apps, Braze or MoEngage.

12 Best Reteno Alternatives

Our Pick for SaaS Companies
Sequenzy landing page screenshot
Sequenzy
Subscription appsRevenueCat, Superwall, AdaptyPush unlimitedBilled per email

Lifecycle messaging for apps and SaaS where email, push and in-app messages run as steps in the same sequence. Sequenzy connects natively to RevenueCat, Superwall and Adapty, turns their webhooks into trial, purchase, billing-issue, cancellation and churn events, and schedules its own trial-ending event 3 days before each store trial converts, which the app stores never send.

SDKs for iOS, Android, React Native and Flutter register push tokens and render in-app messages and content cards, and iOS Live Activities can be started and updated from your backend. Push and in-app messages are unlimited on every plan, including Free, and billing follows emails sent: free up to 2,500 emails/mo, then $19/mo for 15k emails. Compared with Reteno it is lighter on channels (no messengers, no recommendations module) but heavier on email and subscription-billing logic.

Pros

  • Native RevenueCat, Superwall and Adapty integrations
  • Push and in-app unlimited on every plan, including Free
  • Email, push and in-app steps in one sequence builder
  • AI writes whole sequences from a short description
  • Price does not grow with user profiles or MAU

Cons

  • Contacts need an email address, so anonymous app users cannot get push until they sign in
  • No WhatsApp, Viber or Telegram, and SMS is a US/Canada add-on
  • In-app messages and content cards render through the SDKs, with no hosted app inbox
  • Smaller mobile ecosystem and fewer SDK platforms than Reteno

Per-MAU pricingMessengersLive ActivitiesFree up to 1k MAU

The closest like-for-like swap for Reteno. Pushwoosh covers mobile and web push, in-app, email, SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, LINE and KakaoTalk, plus a message inbox, iOS Live Activities, Android Live Updates and wallet passes.

Pricing is per monthly active user: free up to 1,000 MAU, $13 per 1,000 MAU for the Omnichannel plan, and a push-only plan at $7 per 1,000 MAU that the pricing page marks as available until Dec 31 with the price locked for 24 months. Each MAU includes 20 email sends a month, then $1.50 per 1,000. It has native Adapty, AppsFlyer, Adjust, Amplitude, Mixpanel and Segment integrations, and RevenueCat works through a webhook. There is no Superwall integration. Reviewers praise the price and support but call the dashboard non-intuitive and the reporting thin.

The default self-serve push platform, with mobile and web push, in-app messages, email, SMS and Live Activities. The Free plan covers mobile push for up to 1,000 MAU with caps of 6 segments and 3 active journeys.

Growth starts at $19 a month plus $0.012 per mobile MAU and $0.004 per web push subscriber, with 20,000 emails included and then $1.50 per 1,000. OneSignal is a native RevenueCat and Superwall destination, though both send it tags rather than full revenue events. Pick it over Reteno when you want the biggest community, the most tutorials and a free start. Reporting history is short on lower plans (30 days on Free, 90 on Growth), and segment and journey caps push serious programs toward annual contracts.

Event-driven journeysStrong emailRevenueCat, SuperwallProfile pricing

Behavioral messaging with email, push, in-app and SMS on one person profile, and the most common upgrade for app teams that outgrow a push-first tool. Journeys trigger on any event or attribute with branching, delays and A/B tests.

RevenueCat and Superwall both have native Customer.io integrations that send purchase events, not just tags. Essentials starts at $100 a month for 5,000 profiles, with extra profiles at $0.009 each, and Premium starts at $1,000 a month billed yearly. There is no free plan, but the Startup Program gives companies that raised under $10 million a year free. Web push needs a third-party provider via webhooks, and Live Activities (Customer.io calls them live notifications) need Premium or Enterprise.

Analytics + engagementMobile-first30-day trialPer-MAU pricing

A mobile engagement platform with product analytics built in: funnels, cohorts, trends and flows next to push, in-app, App Inbox, web push and journeys. CleverTap publishes its entry Core plan from $85 a month for up to 5,000 MAU, rising to about $1,300 at 100,000 MAU, after a 30-day trial.

Pro and Ultimate are sold through demos, and email, WhatsApp, SMS and RCS are add-ons. RevenueCat lists CleverTap as a native integration, and Superwall marks it coming soon. iOS SDK 7.9.0 added Live Activities. Pick it over Reteno when analytics depth matters as much as messaging. Reviewers mention a learning curve and pricing that climbs quickly past Core.

Merlin AI handles content optimization and agents, and MoEngage bought Aampe in June 2026 for per-user decisioning.

Pricing is sales-led per monthly tracked user, with a one-year minimum commitment and no free trial; Vendr reports an average contract around $187,000 a year. MoEngage built its own webhook integrations for RevenueCat, Superwall and Adapty. Pick it over Reteno when you have the budget and want a vendor with deep AI and account management.

RevenueCat sends full purchase events to Braze natively. Choose it over Reteno when you have a lifecycle team, a large user base and a procurement process. For a fuller list, see our Braze alternatives page.

Google's free push delivery service for Android, iOS and web, with Firebase In-App Messaging as a free companion for simple in-app campaigns. There is no per-message charge, and FCM already sits under most Android push, whichever vendor you use.

What you give up is everything around delivery: no journeys, no email, no message editor beyond the basic Firebase console composer, and no subscription events. It is the right Reteno replacement only when your team wants to send pushes from its own backend and build the logic itself.

Insider (now Insider One, which bought Bluecore in May 2026) is an enterprise growth platform that combines a CDP with web and app personalization, push, email, SMS, WhatsApp and in-app messaging. Insider is strongest for brands that sell on web and app together (retail, travel, fintech) and want AI predictions and onsite personalization in the same contract.

Pricing is sales-led. It overlaps with Reteno's personalization widgets and messenger channels, but at a much larger scale and price.

Why App Teams Look for Reteno Alternatives

A small ecosystem and review base

Reteno has a handful of public reviews (6 on Trustpilot, none on Capterra at the time of writing) and few third-party tutorials, so most answers come from its own team and docs.

Missing integrations

RevenueCat, Amplitude, AppsFlyer, Zapier and BigQuery are covered, but there is no native Superwall, Adapty, Mixpanel, Segment or Adjust connection, and RevenueCat's own integration list does not include Reteno.

Profile-based pricing grows with your user base

Above 10,000 user profiles Reteno charges per 1,000 contacts, so a large free audience you rarely message still raises the bill. Per-email or per-MAU pricing can be cheaper for apps with many dormant users.

Email-led lifecycle flows

If your highest-value messages are emails (trial reminders, billing issues, win-backs), an email-first platform with subscription events gives you more control over that channel.

What Users Say About Reteno

It has removed a lot of the operational work you have to do over and over every day.

Why people look for Reteno alternatives

Reteno is a focused product: an AI messaging platform for mobile and subscription apps, with push, email, SMS, in-app, an App Inbox, personalization widgets and messenger channels under one per-profile price. Its pricing page says it requires a mobile app, and its case studies are subscription apps like WalkFit, Muscle Booster and Promova. For that profile it is a reasonable choice. The reasons teams look elsewhere are mostly about ecosystem, integrations and pricing shape, not missing basics.

A small public footprint

At the time of writing Reteno has 6 Trustpilot reviews and none on Capterra, and we found no community threads about it. That is normal for a younger product, but it means you rely on Reteno's own docs and team for answers. Platforms like OneSignal, Braze or CleverTap have years of tutorials, agencies and Stack Overflow answers.

Integration gaps for subscription stacks

Reteno documents RevenueCat event streaming, Amplitude (into Reteno only), AppsFlyer deep linking, Zapier and BigQuery. We found no native Superwall, Adapty, Mixpanel, Segment or Adjust connection. If your paywall runs on Superwall or your purchases on Adapty, you will be building webhook glue. Sequenzy has native Superwall and Adapty integrations alongside RevenueCat.

Pricing that tracks profiles, not messages

The Growth plan starts at €30 a month for up to 10,000 user profiles and then charges per 1,000 contacts up to 250,000. Subscription apps often collect large free audiences that rarely convert, and every one of those profiles counts. Per-MAU pricing (Pushwoosh, OneSignal) only charges for people you actually message, and per-email pricing (Sequenzy) keeps push and in-app free.

Your situation Keep Reteno when... Better alternative
Subscription app on RevenueCat Profile pricing fits your audience Sequenzy or Customer.io
Paywall on Superwall or purchases on Adapty You are fine building webhooks Sequenzy
Messengers (WhatsApp, Telegram, KakaoTalk) Viber and Telegram are enough Pushwoosh or MoEngage
Analytics and messaging in one tool Basic reporting is fine CleverTap
Millions of users and a lifecycle team You do not need enterprise support Braze, MoEngage or Airship

The alternatives, honestly

Best Reteno alternative for subscription apps: Sequenzy

Sequenzy is built for the flows subscription apps live on. It turns RevenueCat, Superwall and Adapty webhooks into events like saas.trial_started, saas.payment_failed, saas.cancelled and saas.churn, and it schedules a saas.trial_will_end event 3 days before each trial converts, because the app stores send no such signal. Superwall users who saw a paywall and left can enter their own sequence. Each sequence can mix email, push and an in-app message: a billing issue can send an email now, a push tomorrow and a banner the next time the user opens the app. Our guide to email marketing for subscription apps covers the flows to build first.

Push and in-app messages are unlimited on every plan, including Free, and you pay per email sent (free up to 2,500 emails/mo, then $19/mo for 15k emails). The trade-offs are real: every contact needs an email address, so anonymous users cannot receive push until they sign in, there are no messenger channels, and SMS only sends to the US and Canada. If Viber, Telegram or Reteno's personalization widgets are part of your program, Sequenzy will not replace them.

Best like-for-like Reteno alternative: Pushwoosh

Pushwoosh has the closest channel list: push, in-app, email, SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, LINE, KakaoTalk, a message inbox, Live Activities and wallet passes. It prices per monthly active user with a free tier up to 1,000 MAU and $13 per 1,000 MAU on the Omnichannel plan, and it integrates natively with Adapty, Segment, Mixpanel and Amplitude. Watch the MAU definition: anyone who receives a message on any channel counts, including email-only recipients. See our Pushwoosh alternatives page if you want to compare it further.

Best free-to-start Reteno alternative: OneSignal

OneSignal is free for mobile push up to 1,000 MAU, then $19 a month plus usage on Growth. It has the largest community of any push tool and native RevenueCat and Superwall destinations. Segment and journey caps on Free and Growth are tight, so a mature lifecycle program usually ends up on an annual plan. Our OneSignal alternatives page covers when to move on.

Best Reteno alternative for analytics-heavy apps: CleverTap

CleverTap pairs messaging with funnels, cohorts and retention analytics, and publishes its Core plan from $85 a month for up to 5,000 MAU with a 30-day trial. Email, SMS and WhatsApp are add-ons, and anything above Core goes through sales. If you are weighing it, read our CleverTap alternatives too.

Best enterprise Reteno alternatives: Braze, MoEngage and Airship

If your app has millions of users and a lifecycle team, Braze, MoEngage and Airship are the established options. All three are sales-led. Braze has the deepest SDKs and content cards, MoEngage leads on AI decisioning and channel breadth, and Airship on push delivery and app experiences across every platform.

Best Reteno alternative for event-driven journeys: Customer.io

Customer.io is the usual choice for teams with a data engineer who want journeys on any event or attribute. RevenueCat and Superwall both send it full purchase events. There is no free plan (Essentials starts at $100 a month for 5,000 profiles), and web push needs a third party.

The pricing comparison

Prices as published on each vendor's pricing page in November 2026, or the vendor's sales model where no price is published.

OneSignal $19/mo plus usage MAU and sends Up to 1,000 mobile MAU
CleverTap $85/mo up to 5k MAU MAU or data points 30-day trial

Firebase FCM Free None Free at any volume

The billing unit matters more than the entry price. An app with 200,000 installs and 20,000 monthly actives pays very differently under profile, MAU and per-email pricing. Price your real audience, not the headline. Our roundup of push notification services goes deeper on billing units and free tiers.

When Reteno is still the right choice

Reteno is a capable product for the subscription apps it targets. Switch when an integration you depend on is missing or the pricing unit stops fitting your audience, not because a bigger name has more features you will not use. If email is part of your plan, our list of email marketing tools for subscription apps compares the options by billing integration.

Moving from Reteno to Sequenzy

A step-by-step checklist, based on what Reteno lets you export.

  1. 1

    Authenticate your sending domain

Add Sequenzy's DKIM and DMARC records, or let Domain Connect add them for supported DNS hosts, before you send anything. Keep your old provider's records until the switch is done.

    Domain setup guide
  2. 2

    Export your contacts from Reteno

Export your contacts to CSV from Reteno, then import the file into Sequenzy and map each column to a field.

  3. 3

    Bring your unsubscribes and bounces

Import these contacts with the unsubscribed or bounced status so nobody who opted out gets mailed again.

  4. 4

    Move your best templates

Copy the HTML of the templates you still use from Reteno, or rebuild them in Sequenzy's editor.

  5. 5

    Rebuild your automations

Recreate each flow in Sequenzy's sequence builder, or describe it and let AI draft it for you to review.

  6. 6

    Switch sending, then cancel

Point transactional email and signup forms at Sequenzy, run both tools side by side for a week, then cancel Reteno. Engagement history (opens, clicks) does not move, so export any reports you want to keep.

When I moved my founder site paulvibe.com to Sequenzy, I set up 17 live sequences with over 100 emails in less than a month. That used to take me months. It worked so well that I now run my SaaS forgefy.io on it too. I run everything through Claude with the Sequenzy MCP. I describe the flow I want, and Claude builds it, tags the right people and sends me a test. And the team is great: when I suggest something, it’s usually picked up almost right away. For a solo founder with five products and no team, that’s the difference between “I should set that up someday” and “it’s live tonight.”

It’s the first tool where I’m actually willing to keep working on email without it turning into one giant scary blast. Favorite part is still what I said, being able to split stuff. Drafts vs campaigns vs a single-person send. I can park a lot of “don’t send this yet” work with labels and not feel like it’s one click away from going to everyone. Sequences later. Consent / lists first. I’m slow on purpose.

We used Sequenzy to replace a generic onboarding flow with coordinated lifecycle journeys covering signup, connecting Google Search Console, discovering SEO opportunities, upgrading, and paid-customer retention. Event triggers, conditional branches, personalization, and enrollment cancellation gave us precise control over who receives each message - and when someone should exit a journey. We backfilled eligible users into the appropriate journeys. The initial emails went out without bounces, complaints, suppressions, or unexpected recipients. Future users now enter the relevant journeys automatically based on their activity in CrawlRaven.

Codex basically one-shotted the migration for syncing our audience from SendGrid to Sequenzy. Sequenzy is fully observable, so agents can just set everything up. The net impact is saving $45/mo, plus 2 hours of my time every time I need to repurpose a newsletter. That's 8 hours a month. My consulting rate is $550/hr, so every hour automated is super valuable.

Lifecycle email was the kind of thing I knew I would need eventually, but have never had to build it out myself and had no idea where to start. In literal hours I had a fully working (but basic) flow for onboarding new users, detecting churn, and re-engaging people who have trials lapsing to hopefully convert. Sequenzy let me offload the entire “keep users engaged and recover the ones who are slipping” workflow to something that just runs. Every hour I'd have spent building and babysitting lifecycle emails went into shipping the actual product instead.

I'd been looking for an alternative transactional and marketing email platform for some time, and I'm really glad I came across Sequenzy. The system is easy to configure and use, the email builder is excellent, and the API integration and documentation are first class. Best of all, the support is exceptional. Nic is always available, responds quickly, and is genuinely keen to improve the platform. We've had numerous feature requests implemented incredibly quickly, and any issues we've encountered have been resolved almost immediately. The AI integration is also genuinely useful, rather than feeling like it's been added simply for the sake of having AI. We've already seen improved open and click rates compared with our other providers, and the platform offers excellent value for money. Highly recommended - definitely worth trying. Anything I had disliked about the system has already been addressed. We had improvements made to the email builder and we had team/user access controls expanded just by asking. The turn around time for making these changes has been very impressive.

I run a SaaS, and found Nic on X where I kept seeing posts about his email marketing tool, Sequenzy. I decided to try it for email marketing. Literally on the first day, I used it to send a marketing campaign and I got 5 sales. What I like most is the ai assistant because it actually writes emails that feel real instead of the usual ai slop chatgpt returns, so they do not end up in spam. It also has a 2.5k free email limit which is way better than most tools that only give you around 1k. The best part though is that it handles everything for me, tags, subscribers, sequences and all of it. Without it i would probably be managing a database and a bunch of cron jobs just to make email automation work. Sequenzy just makes my life a lot easier. it can also be set up with 2-3 clicks! Give it a try!!

I love everything about Sequenzy and also the kind of support I get from Nic. It's already the best choice for campaigns & Sequences. Specially the integrations with payment providers, auth providers & analytics etc.. is really spot on. Best in terms of features & pricing in the email segment 100% recommend it for SaaS emails :)

The setup was fast and simple. It synced customer, product, and order data quickly. Generating automated flows was simple, and it improved my monthly bottom line by about 7%.

Omnisend is built for ecommerce, and it showed. The API wasn’t great, the app was slow, the UI was confusing, and the automations couldn’t do what we needed. Sequenzy has been fantastic on all fronts. We send a lot of transactional email: hourly, daily and weekly alerts, plus login codes and invites. The API and MCP made it really easy to integrate Sequenzy into SnitchFeed for both marketing and transactional email. I love it for the incredible UI and UX, how well the email designs turn out, and the depth of the feature set. And it’s really difficult to beat the price.

I've used 2 other email marketing tools. They were supposedly "market leaders". Both were clunky, unnecessarily expensive and horrible support. When I tried Sequenzy I thought there'd be trade-offs compared to the others. But there weren't, it had everything I needed, there was no bloat, emails delivered extremely fast, and the founders shipped anything I asked in a day. The best part is that Sequenzy is AI native, I rarely do stuff in the dashboard, just use my AI to create campaigns, sequences and segment customers which saves me a ton of time. Never been happier with an email marketing tool.

$600 revenue in 30d from email automations. Very happy I migrated to Sequenzy. Before I was making zero from email automations.

Sequenzy's most powerful feature is probably those campaigns. It seems useless at first but they are one of the most important things to send to your users. I get to talk to my users 1:1 and help them set it up for their use case. The owner is really active on X, really nice and helpful. He's the type of person to go out of his way to help you, so you get really good support!

After using Loops and Resend, I was looking for an email infrastructure service that had MCP support, Affonso and Dodo Payments integrations, and was affordable. Came across Sequenzy, and the support from Nic has been unbelievable. Migration was done in 24 hours without any issues, and I can run all of my products from a single account.

It helped me grow to $100 MRR, get #1 on Uneed, make more sales, get acquired. I literally love Sequenzy, it's so simple, I love the dashboard. I also saw the integrations and was shocked. 3 sales today, all thanks to Sequenzy. Honestly, thanks.

Loving the Sequenzy app so far due to the affordability and large subscriber limits. Planning on this becoming my main email app. Campaign + flows setup with the help of their AI took less than 30 minutes.

SaaS-focused feedback, fast processing, and plenty of integrations. It is very SaaS-focused, supports a wide range of integrations, and processes feedback right away.
