Your Best Segments Already Live in Mixpanel
Product teams spend real time defining cohorts in Mixpanel: users who activated, users who stalled, users whose usage is dropping. Rebuilding those definitions in an email tool means two versions of the truth that drift apart.
Sequenzy uses the cohort as it is. Each cohort you sync becomes one tag, and Mixpanel keeps it current every 30 minutes:
| Mixpanel cohort | Sequenzy tag |
|---|---|
| Power Users | mixpanel-power-users |
| Churn Risk | mixpanel-churn-risk |
| Trial · Day 7 | mixpanel-trial-day-7 |
Joins Start Emails, Leaves Remove the Tag
| Mixpanel sends | What Sequenzy does |
|---|---|
| The full cohort (first sync) | Tags every member without starting automations |
| People who joined | Adds the tag and starts Tag added automations |
| People who left | Removes the tag. Never creates a contact |
Contacts are created when a member with an email is new to Sequenzy, with their name, mixpanelDistinctId and any properties you export from Mixpanel. Every delivery is listed in the integration's activity with counts of tagged, skipped and failed members.
Before You Connect
- Create credentials in Sequenzy first. Mixpanel sends the full cohort only on its first sync, so the connection has to exist when it arrives.
- Set
$emailon Mixpanel users. Members without an email who don't match a contact are skipped. - Copy the password when it's shown. Sequenzy stores it encrypted. You can generate new credentials later, and you then update the destination in Mixpanel.
The full setup is in the Mixpanel integration docs. Using PostHog or Amplitude instead? See the PostHog and Amplitude integrations, which stream events as well.
