Quince opens with product news, then sends a back-in-stock message and further product-focused emails before its welcome series appears. Emails repeatedly mention free shipping, returns, and referrals.
Automated emails sent in order, on a timeline.
Standalone emails first, then the emails from its sequences, each in the order they arrived.
Updated Oct 4, 2026
The first email arrives on signup day: “Introducing the Modern ’90s Fall Edit.” Its preview text names the materials and Jason Bolden styling, while the email content introduces a seasonal edit and adds free shipping, returns, and referrals. The next email, “The newest arrivals are here,” introduces suede jackets, luxe knits, and maternity styles.
Product launches remain the main thread, accounting for 63% of the emails. A back-in-stock email, “They’re back, for now,” arrives between launch messages. It is followed by “Vibrant Red has arrived” and “NEW BELLA JEANS”; the onboarding emails then arrive on day 6 and day 7, followed by “DROPPING NOW” on day 8. Messages continue through the first week, with a median arrival of day 4 after signup.
Free shipping appears in 88% of the emails, alongside returns or extended returns and referral rewards. In “They’re back, for now,” for example, the email content announces that popular styles are available again and includes messaging about sustainable luxury, free shipping, returns, and referrals.
For your own program, treat reassurance as a recurring message while changing the reason to open: a seasonal edit, a color, a category, or a returning bestseller. Quince also uses preview text to add merchandising detail, as in “The color of the moment, in cashmere, silk, leather & more.”
The median subject line length is 23 characters. Examples include “They’re back, for now” and “The puffer of the season just dropped.” Two subjects use conspicuous capitalization: “NEW BELLA JEANS” and “DROPPING NOW.” Preview text adds descriptive details about materials, product categories, colors, and technical features.
The two-email Quince welcome series arrives later in the flow. “Berry, from bed to bath” introduces home products and is the only email with a product grid. “The puffer of the season just dropped” introduces a seasonal puffer collection. Both are onboarding emails, and both are part of the Quince welcome series.
Dark backgrounds appear on the Bella Jeans, Berry, puffer, and DROPPING NOW emails. The product grid is used only for “Berry, from bed to bath.” Use a product grid selectively rather than applying it to every launch.
How often, when and how quince emails its subscribers, measured from every email we received.
