September 30, 2026 FICTION The Man Sexting His Husband From 5,000 Miles Away Reintroducing Alex Claremont-Diaz. By Casey McQuiston Illustration: Sarah Alice Rabbit Welcome to “Spice Diaries,” a fictional — yes, fictional — spin on The Cut’s popular “Sex Diaries” column. Today’s diary comes from author Casey McQuiston. The story follows Alex Claremont-Diaz, a protagonist from McQuiston’s best-selling romance Red, White & Royal Blue, which was adapted for Prime Video in 2023. Set in the year 2029, after the events of RWRB but within the time frame of McQuiston’s forthcoming book, Red, White & Royal Blue: The Private Correspondence, this diary reintroduces Alex as an attorney at a civil-rights law firm in Austin, Texas. Now 31 and happily married to Prince Henry, Alex must find a way to occupy himself while his husband travels abroad. Long-distance flirtation ensues. DAY ONE 5:00 a.m. Alarm goes off. I’m pissed — even for me, this is early — until my husband, H, starts crawling up my chest and I remember why I set it. I have to be in the office by 7:30, and he flies out at ten. This is our last chance for almost a week. The book he’s working on requires a lot of overseas research trips, so this part has become familiar. Fun, even. He tastes like mint when he kisses me, and I wonder how long he’s been waiting. I push him onto his back and take him into my mouth. I love doing this when I’m still half-asleep, letting my mind go quiet and still with his hands in my hair to move me how he likes. When he’s close, he flips us over and rides me. We’ve been together for almost ten years, and I still try to memorize every detail of times like this before we’re apart for a while. 9:08 a.m. Text from the airport: Christ alive, you are going to get me arrested. I assume this means H has found the Polaroid I hid in his carry-on. As a general rule, we don’t send nudes, but H and I are nothing if not resourceful. I text back a smiley face with a cowboy hat on and pocket my phone until lunch. READ MORE Celebrity News Gossip, revelations, and timelines. Tom Cruise was born for the Spirit Tunnel.
