What is domain reputation?

Domain reputation is a score that email providers (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo) assign to your domain based on your sending history, authentication setup, complaint rates, and other factors. A good reputation means emails reach the inbox. A bad reputation means they go to spam.

How is the reputation score calculated?

Our score weights six factors: SPF (25%), DKIM (25%), DMARC (25%), MX records (15%), DNSSEC (5%), and BIMI (5%). Each check scores 0-100 based on the quality of configuration. The weighted average produces your overall score from A+ (90+) to F (below 50).

Why is DKIM harder to detect?

DKIM records are stored under specific selectors (e.g., selector1._domainkey.example.com). We check common selectors used by major providers, but your domain may use a custom selector. A 'not found' result for DKIM does not necessarily mean DKIM is not configured.

What is a good domain reputation score?

Aim for 80+ (grade A or A+). This means your SPF, DKIM, and DMARC are properly configured. Scores below 60 indicate critical gaps that likely affect your email deliverability.

How often should I check my domain reputation?

Check monthly or whenever you make DNS changes, switch email providers, or notice deliverability issues. Also check after setting up a new sending domain or subdomain.
