The day 0 welcome email establishes the editorial promise with “We break the most important tech news first”, recommended stories and subscription benefits. On day 1, a second welcome email shifts to newsletters: it introduces specialized newsletters and promotes a discounted first-year subscription.
On day 2, an onboarding email makes the product tangible through the app, including reporter audio, video, breaking news alerts, personalization and Deep Research. The next onboarding email uses the featured article “How Anthropic and OpenAI Are Fighting for Enterprise Spending” to present enterprise AI coverage, subscriber benefits and an invitation to subscribe or explore newsletters.
The cadence tightens on day 3. The Information first uses testimonials in “Why tech leaders choose The Information”, an email with social proof and a single call to action, then sends featured articles about robotics, data center financing and Nscale. On day 4, two more article emails cover a coding data startup and on-site power. Across these emails, the content introduces Pro benefits such as exclusive or premium reporting, databases, research, events and newsletters.
The repeated preview text, “Read the latest article from The Information. Subscribe today and save 25% on all of our business, tech and finance reporting.”, appears on 8 of the 17 emails, including many of the article emails. It keeps the subscription offer alongside changing editorial subjects while the subject lines identify the featured stories.
On day 5, three onboarding emails continue the article stream, while the AI Inflection Index email adds a distinct product asset and a discounted Pro invitation. The emails on day 5, day 6 and day 7 use red. On day 6, an upgrade prompt features an exclusive Google DeepMind interview and offers a $299 subscription price with 25% off the first year, followed by an onboarding email about Amazon, Meta and AI data.
On day 7, the upgrade prompt “Unlock exclusive access to industry-leading events” highlights live and in-person events, networking opportunities and a subscription discount; it also uses personalized design and founder voice. The final onboarding email returns to editorial identity with the 50 Most Influential People in Tech list and a first-year discount. The closing emails therefore present access to events and access to reporting as distinct subscription benefits.
