Editor’s Pick: Google Nears Release of Flagship Gemini 4 AI Model
Email copy
Greetings, Google has spent much of this year chasing Anthropic and OpenAI—and on Wednesday, I got a first look at how it plans to catch up. This week, we reported that Google is nearing the release of Gemini 4, its first new flagship model since Gemini 3. In his first media appearance as head of Google DeepMind, Koray Kavukcuoglu told me at our AI Agenda Live Summit that it could arrive well before year-end. Why it caught my eye: Google quietly stepped back from a promised Gemini 3.5 Pro launch, focusing on smaller, cheaper Flash models instead. Rivals pulled ahead in the meantime, as Anthropic’s Mythos and OpenAI’s GPT-6 models both surpassed Google’s best current models. Gemini 4 is already powering Google’s Antigravity coding tool internally while the team works through guardrails and safety testing. What stands out is how much is riding on one release. Google has come from behind before—Gemini 3 set off a “code red” at OpenAI—and Gemini 4 will test whether it can again. Speaking at The Information’s AI Agenda Live Summit, in his first media appearance as the new leader of Google DeepMind, Koray Kavukcuoglu said Gemini 4 is in the early days of a phase of development called post-training, in which a base AI model is refined to behave reliably. He said he hopes the model will be released “much earlier” than the end of the year. A message from Celonis Context doesn't just inform AI. It puts AI to work. The AI ROI conversation has quietly shifted from what agents can do to why so many still can't be trusted with real decisions. The gap, it turns out, isn't model quality — it's operational context most enterprises haven't built yet. The Celonis Context Model is designed to close that gap. Meet the Celonis Context Model.
