September 25, 2026 FIRST PERSON Me, My Husband, and My PMDD For years, each month, I’d explode at my husband for driving me crazy. Eventually we figured out it wasn’t him, it was me. For several days each month, something like a forgotten errand or a coffee cup on his nightstand could end with me snapping, “What the hell is wrong with you?” Afterward, I often couldn’t understand how something small had become so big. Matt is an all-in kind of person who can disappear for hours into whatever has caught his attention. He is that way with our family too. He’ll chase our 4-year-old until she’s on the floor giggling, read Grumpy Monkey and Bluey at bedtime in ridiculous accents, and cook dinner most nights. Cooking, he says, is his love language. But he can also drive me crazy. He’s an infuriating overexplainer; stained cups, dirty pots, and beard shavings seem to follow him everywhere.
