College Football Playoff 1 College Football Playoff prediction: Florida and Alabama surge into the bracket Dominant wins from Florida and Alabama earned them places in this weekβs projected bracket. Meanwhile, Iowaβs shocking win at Michigan suggests the Hawkeyes have a real chance of ending up in the bracket come December. Below is a snapshot of Andy Staples' latest projected College Football Playoff bracket. 7. Florida The Gators smashed Ole Miss 52-28, and they rolled up 302 rushing yards in the process. RB Duke Clark (12 carries, 126 yards, 1 TD) looked as dangerous as Jadan Baugh (29 carries, 142 yards, 3 TDs). Jon Sumrall kept most of the players, but he has completely revamped the program. UF looks talented enough and disciplined enough to play with anyone. 11. Iowa The Hawkeyes pulled off a miracle (for them) by marching 75 yards in 1 minute, 46 seconds to win at Michigan. But the fact that Hank Brown, Reece Vander Zee and company can do that against a demonstrably good defense means Iowa probably can do that to other teams on its schedule. The toughest opponent left is Ohio State this week in Iowa City. After that, every game is winnable. Staples' full projection reveals where Alabama sits, who holds the four first-round byes, and every first-round matchup, including an intriguing potential rematch for the Hawkeyes. PROJECTIONS FROM ANDY STAPLES β College Football 2 Coaching carousel intel: Latest at Maryland, South Carolina Maryland's 54-3 home loss to UCLA and South Carolina's 49-18 rout at Alabama put Mike Locksley and Shane Beamer squarely on the hot seat. Firing Locksley would cost Maryland nearly $10 million, while moving on from Beamer would run South Carolina roughly $28 million, and both figures shrink once the season ends. On3's Pete Nakos has the latest on where things stand for both coaches, including which upcoming games and dates could force a move. SCOOP FROM PETE NAKOS β College Football 3 A dirty hit and Dylan Raiola: How Oregon saved its season with a win at USC A dirty hit knocked Dante Moore out of Oregon's trip to USC, and the Trojans' celebration afterward cleared both benches and left Dan Lanning seething. Dylan Raiola, who suffered a season-ending injury against these same Trojans last year at Nebraska, stepped in and played like a first-round pick. One fourth-quarter decision showed just how rattled USC was, and it leaves Lincoln Riley facing tough questions in year five.
