🚢 Changelog #18: New native mobile apps

Rebuilt for iOS and Android. Alerts that cut through Do Not Disturb. Live Activities and AI SRE in your pocket.

Why it works

  • Lead with the biggest release and explain its practical benefits before listing smaller updates.
  • Use descriptive sections and focused links so readers can explore the features most relevant to them.
  • Keep the tone approachable with a direct reply invitation, then place community content and follow-up prompts after the product news.

How it is built

  1. Greeting and release lead
  2. Mobile app capabilities
  3. Additional product updates
  4. Community content roundup
  5. Reply invitation and sign-off
  6. Social and review prompts

Hello there. We've rebuilt the Better Stack mobile apps as fully native apps for iOS and Android! Incidents open faster, scrolling the timeline is smoother, and AI SRE chats stream in real time. Here's what you can do with the new apps. Escalate to colleagues or AI SRE Acknowledge, escalate, and report new incidents in a few taps. Check the incident timeline with your telemetry charts, tag a colleague in a comment, or kick off an AI SRE investigation with a single tap. Get the new app for iOS or Android. Never sleep through a page Phone on silent overnight? Critical alerts cut through silent mode and Do Not Disturb, and can override your system volume. Turn on looping alerts that keep ringing until you tap the notification or pick up the incident call. Set up critical and looping alerts on your phone. Get every incident detail in your pocket Away from your laptop? The incident page has everything you need to make the call. See the response your monitor got, the log lines that fired your alert, or a Playwright check's logs and artifacts. Not sure where to start? Investigate the incident with AI SRE. Act on incidents without opening the app Incidents show up as Live Activities on iOS. See how long one has been running, whether it's acknowledged, and when it escalates next, right on your Lock Screen. Long-press the app icon to report a new incident or start an AI SRE chat straight from your home screen. Long-press an incident notification to acknowledge it or tell your team you're unavailable. Already have the app? Update it from the App Store or Google Play to get everything above. What else we shipped? On-call reminders: get an e-mail or push notification 24 hours before your on-call shift starts. Integrations: create incidents from PagerDuty and Dash0 alerts, and send new incidents to incident.io. Error alerts: send them to Slack, Teams, Jira or Linear only when an exception's tags match. Releases in error alerts: Slack and Teams alerts for new and reoccurring errors now name and link the release. All monitors: sort and filter every monitor across groups in one tab, and search by metadata. Fresh community content How Shopify Used AI Agents to Abandon React Native and Go Native Shopify bet on React Native for five years, then six engineers rebuilt its Shop app in native Swift and Kotlin in 12 weeks. The reason isn’t React Native. AI agents made building the same app twice cheap. Claude Opus 5.5 vs GPT-6 Sol: Creating a Ferrari F1 Car in Blender Two brand-new frontier models, one Ferrari F1 car to model and animate in Blender. Opus 5.5 built the polished version for $27.86. GPT-6 Sol did it for $4.50, with floating tires. Which would you ship? The Apollo 11 Code Is Open Source (and it’s hilarious) The code that landed Apollo 11 ran on less computing power than your thermostat, and it’s all on GitHub. Pages of assembly, Margaret Hamilton’s name, genuinely hilarious comments, and yes, it still runs in an emulator. Deno Is Over (Cloudflare Shut It Down) Running anything on Deno? Deno is joining Cloudflare, and after one more year of bug fixes and security updates, development of the runtime stops. What that means for Deno Deploy and JSR, and why Cloudflare wanted the team. Have feedback or need help along the way? Just reply to this e-mail, we always love to chat! 👋 All the best, Simon PS: Get updates faster by following us on X, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
