Picture a low plastic stool in a narrow Hanoi alley, with cafes and lanterns on both sides and a bowl of pho in front of you. Then a horn, and a full-size train rolls past a few feet away.
Nikki filmed it on day one of her trip through Vietnam and Cambodia, and it's one of our Moments of the Month.
MOMENT OF THE MONTH
Worth the wait
Nikki ordered pho and a Hanoi beer, and the train came just under an hour later.
Train Street changes from week to week. Police have cleared the trackside cafes more than once, and this year the city agreed to cut the number of trains on the line. Some days you can sit and wait, some days the entrances are closed.
Nikki's tip still works: ask your hotel or your guide. She found the train times posted online weren't always right, and her hotel and guide knew better. They'll also know if the street is open that day.
From there: a night on a boat in Ha Long Bay, Ho Chi Minh City and the Cu Chi Tunnels, the Mekong Delta's floating market, and an express boat into Cambodia to finish in Phnom Penh. She rated it 5 out of 5.
Your Moment could win part of $10,000
Upload a Moment in the TourRadar app and it's in the running for Moment of the Year: $10,000 to spend on TourRadar, split between 26 travelers, with $300 for each of 25 destination winners and $2,500 for the global winner, announced in December.
Winners are picked on views, likes, shares and clicks to the tour, so a Moment uploaded now has as good a shot as one from spring.
Nikki's was filmed on her first day. Yours might already be in your camera roll.
