There’s an old childhood game where you hold a buttercup under your chin. If yellow light appears on your chin, then you like butter. The game works perfectly because, 1. Everyone loves butter and 2. Buttercups are incredibly reflective and they shine out a lot of yellow light.

Every flower is doing its best to attract pollinators, and the buttercup’s special strategy is to be shiny. In fact, when sunlight hits a buttercup it can create a FLASH of light that makes a pollinator’s heart go pitter-pat.

I’m pretty sure I don’t count as a pollinator, but today’s Buttercup and Blues precut has certainly caught my eye!
