There are certain vineyards in California that have earned a reputation for producing exceptional Zinfandel. Maple Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley is certainly one of them. Over the years, fruit from this remarkable site has found its way into Zinfandels from Ridge, Wilson, Pezzi King, Gary Farrell, Bella and Armida. That’s quite a an impressive résumé.
But what really caught my attention here is how specifically this wine is sourced: one single block within Maple Vineyard. When a vineyard already has this kind of track record, getting fruit from a particular block makes this an especially interesting bottle to put on the table. And trust me when I tell you, there isn't much of it.
