It’s opening day at the new Babylist showroom in Soho, and Faith Lobelson — a 32-year-old who works in tech and lives in Carroll Gardens — is test-driving the Bugaboo Fox 5 stroller. The $1,500 stroller, which features a bassinet attachment and four-wheel suspension, is the same model Lobelson’s sister, Grace, bought before she had her baby a year earlier. “This one’s gonna feel real good on the cobblestones,” says Vanessa, a registry consultant at Babylist, gesturing at a pretend cobblestone path in the showroom that allows expectant parents to test how well each stroller handles bumpy conditions. Lobelson is due in November and wants to know what stroller accessories she’ll need. “You’re definitely gonna want the little winter muff that you can use for the bassinet,” Vanessa says. She also recommends a rain shield, a stroller caddy, and stroller mitts to keep her hands warm through the winter. “I didn’t know those existed until I started looking last year and I saw everyone had them,” Lobelson says. “Everything exists now, and it’s amazing,” says her sister. “Any slight inconvenience you can think of there’s baby gear for that.”
