| Hi there! As a general rule, I steer clear of sugary coffee drinks. I love a pumpkin spice latte as much as the next person, but I’m well aware that those things are packed with sugar and can cause my blood sugar to soar to unhealthy levels before I’ve even stepped foot in my office in the morning. That said, I understand the need (okay, fine, want) for a festive beverage, especially in the fall. I even buy an organic pumpkin spice creamer at the end of September every year and occasionally add some of it to my morning coffee! That said, there’s one fall beverage that many think of as healthy that can actually be causing massive blood sugar spikes…not to rain on your parade (no pun intended) or anything. Read on to find out what it is, and for registered dietitians’ advice for making healthier beverage choices. Have a healthy rest of your week, Leigh Weingus Deputy Health Editor, Parade |
